Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC – A Brief History

Al Arafah Islami Bank PLC was founded to prosper in this world and hereafter based on the guidance of Allah and the teachings of His Prophet Muhammad (SM). It was incorporated as a private limited company on 18 June 1995. The inaugural ceremony took place on 27 September 1995. The bank’s authorized capital is Tk.15000.00 million, and the paid-up capital is Tk. 10649.02 million as on 31.12.2021. Renowned Islamic Scholars and pious businessmen of the country are the sponsors of the Bank. 100% of paid up capital is being owned by indigenous shareholders.

The equity of the bank stood at Tk. 2348.32 crore on 31 December 2018, the number of employees was 4247 on 31 December 2021, and there were 19146 shareholders on 31 December 2021. It has made profits every year and given out good dividends. So, due to the excellence in customer service with modern technology and new products, it has helped the bank rise to the top. There are numerous products and services this bank offers in trying to help customers’ needs.

The Bank is committed to the core for doing a lot for the national economy. It has contributed to the social and economic development of the country through a network of 211 branches, out of which 25 are AD branches, across the country.
