NRB Bank Limited – A Brief History

NRB Bank Limited is one of the few innovative fourth-generation banks in Bangladesh. It commenced operation on 04 August 2013 with the vision to be the leading dedicated financial institution for Non-Resident Bangladeshis to invest in Bangladesh and for Bangladeshi individuals and corporates to access international markets.

This great diaspora of migrant Bangladeshis, since the 1990s, has been demanding a platform whereby they can contribute more effectively towards their home economy. NRB Bank then came up pretty quick to present this very need by innovating Migrants’ Sponsored Banking-a newly invented banking structure. It was born out of an idea of reducing long-term dependency on international financial institutions. It has brought innovation in the banking system since its establishment and has stood up to the motto of not being “Just Another Bank”.

This bank’s objectives are to increase the loyalty of customers and shareholders through ensuring employee satisfaction and always keeping the core tenets of sustainable banking.
