Shimanto Bank Limited – A Brief History

Shimanto Bank PLC. is wholly owned by Border Guard Bangladesh Welfare Trust- a sound welfare undertaking for the personnel of Border Guard Bangladesh(BGB). Bangladesh Bank has provided banking license to Shimanto Bank PLC. on July 21, 2016 as a scheduled commercial bank with full-fledged Paid-up Capital of BDT 4000 million. Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh was benevolent enough to inaugurate the bank on September 1, 2016.

Accordingly, Shimanto Bank is much committed to the goal of fulfilling all the banking needs of the BGB members. It will operate with all other commercial banking functions, however, by offering a number of attractive asset and liability products and services tailored for the country’s Retail, SME, and Corporate clients. Since BGB is already present throughout the country, including in most remote border areas, it will be much easier for Shimanto Bank to expand the business network in providing inclusive banking facilities to the non-banked people of Bangladesh.
